Early Reading Skills
Are the books like Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Scarlet Letter, etc. for my reading level? (i’m 14)?
I’m a pretty decent reader, and I love to read.. A LoT. So I was wondering if it’s too early for me to start reading these books and if I should wait a little. I’m trying to build up on my writing, reading, and vocabulary skills for the SAT. I’ve just started reviewing now. So should I wait a little or start now before summer ends? I’m 14, and entering 9th grade.
I firmly believe that, at your age, the whole of human literature should be available to you.
So yes, read the Brontes and Hawthorne. Read also Pride and Prejudice, Moby Dick, Les Miserables, Don Quixote, Gulliver’s Travels -
and anything else you can get your hands on.
